Description
Over several decades, Dale Schreuder has become an icon in the restaurant industry, running a wide variety of very successful eateries. The original Dale’s Place opened in Johannesburg in 1980 and, after a move to Cape Town’s Table View, embarked on a new lease of life in in 1990. Dale owned and managed the restaurant up until 2004.
Like many of Dale’s enterprises, Dale’s Place had a definite al fresco emphasis with a good-weather menu to match. In between, Dale owned and operated three very successful Black Angus Steakhouses in Johannesburg plus a successful Durban eatery. More recently, Dale’s Black Angus Grill opened six years ago in the Paddocks Shopping Centre in Milnerton under a new guise and a fresh look.
These days the menu is as varied as ever, including all the favourites as well as a special Tastes Of South Africa section. Dale’s Black Angus is the home of the 'Special Reserve 21', first introduced in 1984 and since then becoming a nationwide industry standard known as “the best steak you’ll ever eat”. Honed over the years, the nuanced menu manages to cater to all tastes.
Dale’s Black Angus Grill is a large venue able to accommodate 90 diners in a large dining room, 30 in the large bar area and an extra 100 guests on the outside terrace, for a great al fresco experience. It also has function facilities upstairs capable of hosting 80 guests as well as a private boardroom or dining area.
Dale’s Black Angus is fully licensed and is open seven days a week from 11am to 10:30pm. All major credit cards are accepted. Smoking is permitted in the bar area and on the terrace. The restaurant is wheelchair and child friendly.
