Description
Den Anker is defined as a lively, welcoming restaurant with friendly service and strong Belgian slant to menus, backed by an inviting mix of international and local dishes. A quayside location and exclusive beers brewed for us in Belgium are added attractions.
Our enviable location on the quayside of SA’s top tourist destination. Our exclusive imported beers and own brand Anker beer brewed in Belgium, with their associated traditional customs: Kwak beer drinkers are asked to forfeit a shoe (hoisted in a basket above the bar) as a deposit for the unique glass in which it’s served. We also hold tutored beer tastings for customers eager to learn about the finer points of the beers they order.
A welcoming venue with picture-postcard views of Table Mountain as backdrop to a working harbour, offering delectable food and a constantly updated winelist. With terrace tables that invite you to unwind, enjoying tasty bites while watching seals bask, gulls swoop and yachts glide by.
Our cuisine is French/Belgian with South African specialities, and, given the location, fresh seafood. We keep up with trends (current mains are lighter than traditional Belgian dishes), introduce new ideas, but retain regulars’ favourites (like moule & frites or butter-tender, creamy pepper steak) for fear of a riot. New is a tapas terrace menu (bitterballen are a must) with a wide selection of wines by the glass or Belgian beers.
