Description
Christian Dauriac has been making wine in Bordeaux for 30 years, first at Chateau Destieux (which he recently brought to Grand Cru Classé status) then Montlisse, his second wine (both in Saint-Emilion) and finally in Pomerol with La Clémence. When he visited South Africa in 2002 he fell in love with Stellenbosch, and after careful review of many sites he selected a 36-hectare estate with exceptional terroir in the Simonsberg area of Stellenbosch. He named the farm Marianne Estate.
Marianne Estate produces small batches of very high quality wines, with strictly manual harvesting and sorting, the very latest winemaking equipment and new French oak barrels. Christian regularly brings in specialists from France to oversee the winemaking, including world-renowned winemaker Michel Rolland.
