Description
Located at The Old Biscuit Mill, this independent initiative was founded in 2006 by Justin Rhodes and Cameron Munro, an entrepreneurial duo who, arguably, spearheaded the farmers’ market scene in Cape Town (and, perhaps the entire country). Their aim was to revive and reinvent public markets as a civic institution. This award-winning market currently features over 100 specialty traders, creating a weekly platform for local farmers, fine-food purveyors, organic merchants, bakers, grocers, mongers, butchers, artisanal producers and celebrated local chefs to showcase and sell their delicious wares every Saturday.
Why you’ll love it Not only did this pioneering market pave the way for the profusion of other markets in the Mother City, it still happens to be one of the coolest city hangouts in Cape Town on a Saturday morning, striking the perfect balance between superb food and drinks, trendy clothes and accessories, and Cape Town’s creative set.
Dog-friendly? Yes, but please keep them on a leash.
